As an avid user and evangelist of twitter, I often come across individuals who are new to the tweeting experience. There are a countless number of blog posts on the net detailing the best ways to make use of twitter. But today I thought I’d compile a short list of “Twitter Do Nots” that will be sure to help you avoid gaining any new followers.
#1: Follow everyone
I like to call this the “Lottery Theory.” Following tons of people on Twitter for no reason does not equate to more followers for you. Whenever I receive an e-mail update from twitter telling me I have a new follower, the first thing I notice is the ratio between how many people they’re following, and how many people are following them. Being followed by someone who’s following five hundred people with two followers of their own just makes me feel like a statistic. You should follow people because you have a sincere interest in what they have to say, not because you’re trying to recruit a large amount of followers for the sake of self-promotion.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with marketing yourself, but accumulating twitter followers should be a natural process. Forcing things only hurts you in the long run.
#2: Flood your tweets
There is such a thing as tweeting too often. Do not continuously tweet over and over again within a short time period. People who flood my tweet deck dashboard with 10 random links are automatically deleted from my “following” list.
#3: Not uploading a profile photo
This is the ultimate carnal sin in twitter. Not having some type of twitter photograph will make people automatically assume that you are a spammer.
#4: Being selfish
Twitter is about community. Responding to other people’s tweets, retweeting, and getting involved is one of the best things you can do to network and meet new people. Don’t be a loner – be sociable and you’ll begin connecting with others in no time!
#5: Being impatient
Unless you’re a celebrity, don’t expect to find yourself with a few thousand followers after only posting a couple tweets. Gaining followers on Twitter takes time and patience. Tweet unique and interesting content. The followers will naturally come.
#6: Whine
There’s already enough negativity in the world. Don’t bring everybody else down with posts about life’s trivial troubles. Don’t worry, be happy.
Have any other suggestions you think should be added to this list? Leave them in a comment section below! If you want to gain new followers, do the opposite of what’s listed above.

The Anything Guys
Role:
Logo and Stationery Design
Description:
I was contacted by TAG to create a fresh identity that captured their new services and products. I decided to a little outside the box here and create an “do-it-all-kind-of-guy…” Thus the super hero persona of a worker was born. He was given a shovel and many other tools to use in the different areas of the company. I paired it with some big bold type so it would be easily recognizable from any distance. Later on in the project, I did everything from yard signs to check designs (will add these soon); it was a complete overhaul.

Logo and Stationery Design
Description:
Sonolabs is quite a unique company. They produce music and sounds that eventually define a brand. For example, the background music you would hear during a commercial, they create that. They wanted a design that stood out from the rest. We had some discussions and felt this was the best choice for the direction they wanted to go.
Client:

Role:
Logo and Web Design
Description:
Logoreview was one of the logo’s that has put my name in quite a bit of places. It was kind of a “eureka” moment. I simply just kerned logoreview in the gotham font and slashed off a tad of the “v.” This was done to form a check mark to signify the “review.” In this instance, KISS worked well.
Client:
Jason Clarke
Role:
Logo Design
Description:
These two logos were done for a construction company called Construction by Clarke. In both logos, I wanted to maintain a sense of professionalism and dedication. The crest was one direction and the “C” logo was another direction. The client ended up using both options.
Client:
Katie Farrell
Role:
Logo and Website design
Description:
Here is a design that I’ve been working on recently for my wife. She is currently done with 6 years of nursing school and going to be an RN in December. Her true passion is nutrition and food. She has a real true passion for it, so I convinced her to start a blog/recipe site that can inform people how to eat healthy (but not all salads and greens). She knows how to make burgers, chicken tacos, souffle’s, etc… We came up with the name dashing dish. She wanted something kitchy, something that was a little cute and retro.
The trendy purse came to me for a logo design for their new site thetrendypurse.com. The site will be a search engine dedicated to just purses. I created the logo with a trendy purse shape and the strap over it is a magnify glass to represent the “search.”
Mosquito is a search engine optimaztion specialty company and an awesome design company. They came to me wanting a uniquely design mosquito that wasn’t gross. I designed them one using some simple shapes and implemented a arrow as the head to signify growth/increase. The mosquito sits on top of some customized text and a drop of blood over the letter ‘i.’
This logo design was very intriguing. The goal was to make something non-gender that represented fitness. I got the idea of a shoelace because it is often something that represents fitness and in this case, was used to make a tied shoelace in the form of a K.

This was a fun logo to design. I was just free handing some fat animals, or animals that stood on all fours that had a low belly. The logo was uploaded brandstack for sale and was purchased by Jeff Mangan who later on contacted me about doing some stationery for it (designs coming soon).
